Information about Our Rental Boats
We’ll make sure you’re well-prepared for your journey!
Got questions about your Have questions about your boating holiday?
On this page, we provide practical information, helpful tips, and answers to the most frequently asked questions about renting a motor yacht with REM Yachtcharter.
From what to pack to how our boats operate, we cover everything you need to know.
Renting a boat without a license – it's possible!
If you don’t have a boating license, don’t worry—our yachts don’t require one. If you have no boating experience, you must take a short boating course, which you can book with us directly.
At departure, we check your boating skills, and if needed, we may ask you to complete a course before leaving. If you prefer, one of our skippers can join you as you leave the harbor, so you can navigate the first 1000 meters with confidence.
What happens if I cause damage to the boat?
Sometimes accidents happen while sailing one of our rental boats. Damage can be inconvenient for both you and us, so please contact us immediately if anything occurs. This way, we can discuss the next steps together.
Important points to remember:
– You pay a security deposit before departure. If the damage is unintentional and meets the set conditions (such as sailing within the permitted area and in suitable weather), we keep the deposit and our insurance covers the damage.
– If the damage or circumstances fall outside the insurance or rental agreement, you are responsible for covering the full repair costs.
We will guide you through the process and work with you to find the best possible solution.
Is the boat insured?
At REM Yachtcharter, we fully insure every rental boat against all risks. The deductible equals the security deposit you pay before departure. Our insurance covers all inland waterways in the Netherlands.
Please note: You may only sail on the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer, or the major rivers if you consult us in advance and receive written permission.
Where can I park my car?
At the departure marina, parking is available near the boat for your car(s). If needed, there is also space for trailers or camper vans. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring one.
Parking costs are included in the rental price.
Please note: Sailing on the Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer, and the major rivers requires prior consultation and written permission from us.
Boating Season & Bridges
Our boating season runs from April through October each year. The exact dates may vary slightly depending on public holidays, and we announce them at the end of each season. During the early and late season, bridges open less frequently than in the high season.
Bridge opening times (April 1 – October 31):
– 7 days a week, from 09:00 to 19:00
High season bridge times (June, July, August):
– 09:00 to 20:00
Please note: Commercial shipping canals may operate with different opening hours.
Please note: sailing with our boats after dark is not permitted.

– Boats up to 10.50 meters: €750
– Boats 10.50 meters and larger: €1,000

Before departure, we fill your boat with diesel and fresh water. When you return to the marina, please refill the diesel tank at the fuel station near the entrance. This way, you only pay for the fuel you actually use. You don’t need to refill the water tank—we’ll take care of that for you.

What Should I Know About Weather Conditions?
As your rental provider, we monitor the weather forecasts closely. However, you are always responsible for deciding whether to go out on the water.
Our boats are insured for sailing in wind conditions up to Beaufort force 5. If the wind exceeds this level, we apply specific restrictions.
When the KNMI (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute) issues official weather warnings, we strongly recommend that you contact us for guidance.
If we receive timely information about extreme conditions, we try to warn you as a guest via SMS or WhatsApp.
What Should I Do in Case of a Breakdown or Emergency?
If a malfunction occurs or alarms go off on board, it is important to immediately switch off the engine and contact the rental company. Our team will arrive as soon as possible with our service vehicle to inspect the situation and provide assistance where possible.
In case of an emergency, you must first call the emergency number 112 and then inform the rental company of the situation.
